Over the last decade, policies to counter extremism have spread globally聽and the concept of "extremism" has become a key signifier of Islamophobic discourse. How should we understand Countering Violent聽Extremism (CVE) policies, the regimes of surveillance they enable, and the聽racialized notions of Muslimness they construct? What does an anti-racist and antifascist聽approach to the politics of extremism look like?

Arun Kundnani, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Media, Culture, and聽Communication, New York University (NYU) will address these topics.聽Organized by the Canada Research Chair in Social Movement Learning and Knowledge
Production, with support from the Institute for Islamic Studies, 缅北强奸.
