While poor sleep was linked to higher levels of stress during the COVID-19 pandemic, more teens actually obtained the recommended amount of sleep compared to pre-pandemic sleep patterns, according to a new study from Ã山ǿ¼é. Changes to daily routines triggered by lockdowns allowed teenagers to follow their biological impulse to wake up and sleep later, reducing daytime sleepiness.

The use of antidepressants among teenagers has exploded in just the last few years in Quebec.

Figures from Quebec's health insurance board are staggering — three times more Quebec teens were consuming antidepressant drugs in 2017 than they had ten years earlier.

In addition, twice as many teen girls than teen boys are using them.

"Acute intoxication with alcohol is common in Quebec. Between January 1 and November 26, 2017, emergency services received 2,332 young people aged 12 to 24 for this reason. This equates to 214 cases per month, 49 cases per week or 7 cases per day." ()
