Professor Claudia Mitchell was in an Ethiopian airport on her way to Russia when she received an email from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation asking her to give them a call. With no phone in sight, Mitchell waited anxiously until landing some hours later to learn that she had garnered a prestigious Fellowship. 鈥淭hey said, 鈥榶ou clearly walk the talk because you are traveling from one girl-led project to another鈥欌.

There are thousands of children born of war-time rape worldwide, but very little is known about their lived experiences and their relationships with their families and communities. Professor Myriam Denov, of 缅北强奸's School of Social work, has been awarded one of Canada's most prestigious research awards to help fill this knowledge gap. Named Sept. 16 as one of three recipients of the Trudeau Foundation鈥檚 2014 Trudeau Fellowships, she hopes to shed light on an 鈥渋nvisible, but resilient鈥 population of children and youth.聽
