Many of our students recently climbed the stage for their convocation. And after they received their degrees, smiled for the cameras, and headed back to their seats, they took their first steps into an exciting new chapter of their lives.
If this past year was any indication, they will surely continue to make Schulich proud. The 2022 鈥� 2023 season felt like a return to form since 2020, and our students, faculty, staff, and alumni truly brought music to life.

Mia-Lin Gromko, a Schulich School of Music student who is graduating from her undergraduate degree this year, is the winner of the prestigious Governor 骋别苍别谤补濒鈥檚 Academic Silver Medal. She is the first-ever Schulich student to earn this recognition at 缅北强奸.听

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Riddell, CM on November 6, 2022.
Wayne Riddell graduated from 缅北强奸 with a Bachelor of Music in 1960, was a Faculty Member of the Schulich School of Music from 1968鈥�1980, an Honorary Doctorate in Music recipient in 2014 and member of the Schulich School of Music Faculty Advisory Board for over 20 years. His impact was profound,听and his legacy will not soon be forgotten. 听听
Christopher Ducasse is the Fall 2022 recipient of the Program to Support Graduate Conducting Students in the Study and Performance of Music by Composers from Underrepresented Groups. This 3-year pilot initiative is a collaboration between the Schulich School of Music, the Marvin Duchow Music Library and its Gertrude Whitley Performance Library.
On September 24, 2022, Prof. Alexis Hauser was honoured by his home country of Austria. Maestro Hauser received the Decoration of Honour in Gold for services to the Republic of Austria (Das grosse Ehrenzeichen in Gold fuer Verdienste um die Republik Oesterreich), presented by the Austrian Ambassador, Her Excellency, Magister Sylvia Meyer-Kajbic. 听
Congratulations to Early Music graduates Guillaume Villeneuve (Gr. Dip in Performance鈥�20), Tristan Best (BMus鈥�19, MMus鈥�21), and S茅bastien Mitra (BMus鈥�18), who were awarded First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize, respectively, at the 听of the this July 2022.

The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates outstanding contributions from a researcher to the field of music perception and cognition, carrying with it a lifetime membership in the SMPC.听听
