Our biological clock plays crucial role in healing from surgery

If you have just had knee, shoulder or hip surgery, you may want to take anti-inflammatories in the morning or at noon, but not at night. A �山ǿ��-led study shows, for the first time, that circadian clock genes are involved in healing from surgery. Indeed, the researchers demonstrated that anti-inflammatory medications are most effective in promoting post-operative healing and recovery when taken during the active periods of our biological clocks.

Come witness young students perform brain surgery for the first time

This Saturday, February 21st twenty CEGEP students will meet at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital – The Neuro, at �山ǿ�� and the MUHC for a unique chance-to test their skills at ‘brain’ surgery. These students were prize winners at the Bench to Bedside Conference for Youth 2015 - geared at stimulating student career interests in medicine, surgery and medical research.

The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, �山ǿ�� and the �山ǿ�� Health Centre regret to announce the death of William Feindel, O.C., G.O.Q., MDCM, D. Phil., one of Canada's most distinguished neurosurgeons and The Neuro’s third director. Dr. Feindel passed away quietly at The Neuro on Sunday night following a brief illness. Our deepest sympathies go out to Dr. Feindel’s family.
