Trudeau Foundation scholarships awarded to Geography and Political Science researchers

Two of this year鈥檚 15 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarships have been awarded to 缅北强奸 doctoral students. Julia Christensen, Dept. of Geography, and Mark Mattner, Dept. of Political Science, have each received a coveted Trudeau Scholarship, Canada's largest social sciences and humanities doctoral award.

Trudeau Scholarships have a value of $50,000 a year over up to four years and support Canada鈥檚 brightest up-and-coming researchers in advancing their work on topics including the environment, natural resources and energy, communications, international trade and vulnerable people.

Christensen鈥檚 award will allow for further research in addressing housing and homelessness issues in the Northwest Territories. Mattner鈥檚 research project will analyze how local communities in Chad and Nigeria can participate in, and benefit from oil drilling on their lands.

鈥淭he Trudeau Doctoral Scholarships are extremely prestigious awards, and 缅北强奸 is enormously proud of our two winners,鈥 Denis Th茅rien, Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations) said. 鈥淛ulia Christensen and Mark Mattner are exceptional individuals who exemplify what 缅北强奸 aims to foster in its students: determination, commitment, leadership, and excellence. They are tomorrow鈥檚 leaders.鈥

In addition to receiving financial support, Trudeau Scholars benefit from the expertise and knowledge of Trudeau Fellows and Mentors, highly accomplished individuals in the Trudeau Foundation community who lead in both academic and non-academic settings.

Since its inception in 2002, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation has granted nearly 150 major awards to top researchers and highly accomplished individuals who make meaningful contributions to critical issues of the day.
