Sylvia Ospina, LLM'88, awarded IISL'S Distinguished Service Award
On September 30, 2010, at the occasion of the celebration of its 50th anniversary at the International Astronautical Congress in Prague, Dr. Sylvia Ospina, LLM'88, (Colombia, United States) was awarded the IISL Distinguished Service Award for her many contributions to the work of International Institute of Space Law (IISL), including to the UN Highlights in Space Reports, serving as judge of the briefs during the IISL's Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competitions, and enhancing interest in space law in the Americas.
Dr. Ospina is also a Director of the IISL, and is a well-known author of many articles in the field, particularly on satellite communications.
Sylvia Ospina received her LL.M. from the IASL in 1988. Her thesis was on a regional satellite project for Latin America, "Project CONDOR."
