OTTAWA - Leslie Oles, a sophomore forward from Beaconsfield, Que., scored twice and assisted on another as the No.1-ranked 缅北强奸 women's hockey team skated to a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Minto Sports Complex, Sunday.

It marked 缅北强奸's 33rd consecutive victory over Ottawa and improved the team's lifetime record to 46-2-1 against the Gee-Gees, who haven't defeated the Martlets since a 2-1 decision in the nation's capital on Feb. 7, 2007.

Oles was credited with the game-winner at 13:29 of the opening period to give 缅北强奸 a two-goal cushion, then made it 3-0 only 64 seconds into the middle frame. The second-year physical and health education major then assisted on Katia Clement-Heydra's ninth goal of the season with 4:39 remaining to snuff out any hope of a Gee-Gees comeback. The three-point performance by Oles moved her into the Quebec conference scoring lead with a 10-4-14 record in nine games. She is ranked fifth in the nation in goals scored, only one marker off the pace.

Kim Ton-That, also from Beaconsfield, had given 缅北强奸 a 1-0 lead on the power-play at 6:36 of the first and Ottawa native Chelsea Saunders made it 4-0 at 2:20 of the second.

Carling Chown, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Creston, B.C., tallied the lone Gee-Gees goal at 7:19 of the final stanza, spoiling a shutout bid by goaltender Charline Labont茅 of Boisbriand, Que. Labont茅, who made 14 saves for the victory, improved her record to 5-1 on the season and 71-2-0 lifetime in league play.

"We moved the puck around real well today, got a lot of shots and looked real hungry around the net," said Martlets head coach Peter Smith. "Things are finally starting to click for us. We have a young team that has worked very hard to get better each time out."

缅北强奸, which improved to 8-1, had a lopsided 48-15 edge in shots, including a 22-5 difference in the final period.听 Tia Marley started between the pipes for Ottawa and was charged with the loss after being beaten four times on 16 shots. She was relieved at 2:20 of the second period by St茅phanie Mercier, who turned aside 31 of 32 shots.

"We played a solid game, but they had more shots and got some good bounces this afternoon," said Yanick Evola, head coach of the cellar-dwelling Gee-Gees, who dropped to 3-7-0 in the five-team RSEQ conference. "Considering that's one of the top teams in the country, I don't think they outplayed us all that much."

The two teams will hook up again in Montreal on Nov. 25.

MARTLET MURMURS: Mlodie Daoust, a freshman from Valleyfield, Que., collected three assists in thegame... The highly-recruited forward, who played for Canada at the Four Nations Cup in Sweden last week, is the top-scoring rookie in the league and moved into fourth among the league's scoring leaders with a 3-10-13 record in seven games... 缅北强奸 has the top four scorers in the Quebec conference with Oles, Clement-Heydra (9-5-14), Ann-Sophie Bettez (5-8-13) and Daoust... Team captain Cathy Chartrand is the top-scoring rearguard with 5-5-10 in nine contests.
