From Microscope to Stethoscope: ending of the second lecture series, next week at the MUHC

Published: 30 November 2007

"From Microscope to Stethoscope", the distinguished public lecture series organized by the Research Institute of the 缅北强奸 Health Centre (MUHC), will end its second season next week, on December 3rd.

Our lecturer for this last insider glimpse into research at the MUHC will be Dr Ronald Olivenstein, Director of the Asthma Clinic, and the Pulmonary Function Laboratory at the Montreal Chest Institute of the MUHC, as well as Assistant Professor of Medicine at 缅北强奸. Dr Olivenstein and his team have invented a new technique to help relieve asthmatic patients: Broncho-thermoplasty. This treatment is completely innovative, as it is a non-medicinal way to stimulate and facilitate the passage of air through the bronchi using a heated probe. This technique is still undergoing tests to be approved for general use, but it is a very promising avenue for the treatment of thousands of asthmatics in Canada.

You can listen to an interview of Dr Olivenstein by clicking .

The lecture will take place at the Montreal General Hospital in Livingston Hall (Room L6-500) starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and anyone interested is welcome.

Dr Olivenstein will take questions from audience members during a discussion period following the lecture.

These lectures series will have given you an inside look at the diversity of our fields of expertise, and at the intellectual vitality that fills our research laboratories. We hope to see you all back in 2008, for the next season!
