缅北强奸 Woodsmen Competition: 50 years of chopping, splitting & sawing

Published: 25 January 2010

MONTREAL -- Axe-wielding student lumberjacks and Jills from eastern Canada and the U.S. will converge on 缅北强奸's Macdonald campus Saturday, Jan. 30, to take part in the University's 50th annual intercollegiate woodsmen competition, part of the Canadian lumberjack championships.

The first woodsmen competition at 缅北强奸 took place in 1961. It was scheduled to be held at the Morgan Arboretum as part of the Macdonald Winter Carnival but was moved to Lower Campus due to a snowstorm. It returned to the Macdonald campus permanently the following year.

This year some 175 competitors from 26 teams will battle for supremacy in 14 exciting singles, doubles and team events, including the axe throw, Swede saw, chain saw, pole climb, water boil, snowshoe race, and more.

The woodsmen competition has become a popular fixture on the winter events calendar. Spectators are welcome and admission and parking are free.
