The 缅北强奸 Health Centre's redevelopment project takes another step forward
Dr. Arthur T. Porter, Director General and CEO of the 缅北强奸 Health Centre (MUHC), and Mr. Michel L. Lesage, President and General Manager of the Corporation d'h茅bergement du Qu茅bec (CHQ), are pleased to announce that the H茅bert-Loiselle-Qu茅format consortium ranked first in the bid to carry out the environmental remediation of the Glen site in preparation for the construction of the MUHC's Glen Campus health facilities. The awarded contract has a cost value of $28,046,569.14.
The clean-up of the Glen site aims to make the land, which is the CHQ's property, conform to the Quebec Ministry of Environment's policy on the protection of soil and rehabilitation of contaminated land (Politique de protection des sols et de r茅habilitation des terrains contamin茅s). Initial work will consist of characterizing the soil in order to determine the various types of contaminants and subsequently to excavate the contaminated soil with a view to either treating it or transporting it to landfill sites accredited by the Quebec Ministry of Environment. Work will begin this spring.
The choice of H茅bert-Loiselle-Qu茅format is the result of a rigorous process led by the selection committee, which included a number of experts. Specifying that the Minister of Health and Social Services entrusted the soil remediation and improvement of the Glen site to the CHQ, Mr. Michel L. Lesage declared, "H茅bert-Loiselle-Qu茅format demonstrated that it could carry out the remediation work on the site and respect the timeline, budget and environmental requisites."
"The start of decontamination work represents a significant milestone for the Glen Campus portion of the 缅北强奸 Health Centre's redevelopment project," added MUHC Director General and CEO Dr. Arthur T. Porter. "We are on schedule and making steady progress toward our goal of seeing our first patients at the Glen in 2008."
