缅北强奸 man Max makes good but CIS all-stars lose to national Jr. team
听
TORONTO - Riley Sheahan scored once and added two assists as Canada's national junior hopefuls scored the game's first five goals en route to a 6-2 exhibition win over a CIS university all-star team composed entirely of players from the OUA conference at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, Tuesday.

Both of the CIS goals were scored by rival players from Montreal-area universities, with 缅北强奸's Maxime Langelier-Parent of Lery, Que., and Concordia's Charles-Antoine Messier of Boucherville, Que., connecting in the final period.
听
Two other 缅北强奸 players dressed for the contest (forward Francis Verreault-Paul and defenceman Marc-Andre Dorion) but were held off the scoresheet. Non-dressing Redmen in camp included team captain Evan Vossen and goaltender Hubert Morin.
听
Other goal scorers for Team Canada were Cody Eakin, Ryan Murray, Marcus Foligno, Curtis Hamilton and Carter Aston.
听
Canada, which outshot the CIS squad 38-22, led 1-0 after the opening stanza and 3-0 after two. The CIS team had two apparent goals waived off, one at the five-minute mark of the first period and the other at 3:48 of the middle session.
听
While all junior teams have played throughout the month of December, this was the first real test for CIS skaters since the first semester ended on Dec. 4. Despite being in the middle of their exam period, 21 university players suited up to take on a selection of hungry juniors battling for a spot on the national roster in preparation for the world championship tourney, which opens Dec. 26 in Buffalo, N.Y. 听The final nine cuts are to be announced early Wednesday morning for the final 22-man roster.
听
The CIS players were fighting for a spot on a different national team, one that will be representing the CIS at the 24th Winter Universiade, also known as the World University Winter Games, in Erzurum, Turkey, Jan. 23 to Feb. 6. After a three-day training camp in London, this was their last chance to impress the CIS coaching staff led by head coach Clarke Singer of the Western Ontario Mustangs.
听
Both teams used only goaltenders from the Canadian junior roster, a stipulation that the national juniors have had in place for all their bi-annual matchups with the CIS all-stars.
听
Olivier Roy and Calvin Packard backstopped the CIS team while JP Anderson and Mark Visentin were put between the pipes for Canada. Roy started and saved 22 of 24 shots in his half (30:25), while Packard was saddled with the loss, registering 10 saves on 12 shots.
听
Visentin started for Canada and kicked aside all 11 shots faced, before giving way to Anderson, who was credited with the win despite allowing both CIS goals on 11 shots faced.
听
The teams looked evenly matched through the first period. A defensive battle ensued before Sheahan beat past Roy for the first goal of the game at the 12:20 mark.
听
"It was nice to put the puck in the net for the first time in any hockey I've played this year," said Sheahan, a checking centre who is without a goal at Notre Dame this season.
听
The second period was all Canada. Eakin tallied just 53 seconds after the opening faceoff and Murray made it 3-0 on the power-play at 13:51.
听
Canada struck early again in the final period, with Foligno and Hamilton connecting at 2:45 and 4:43 to put the game out of reach.
听
Messier finally broke the goose-egg, when he converted passes from Western teammates Aaron Snow and Keaton Turkiewicz, at 13:42. Canada replied three minutes later when Ashton made it 6-2 but the university all-stars answered again when Langelier-Parent connected with just 68 seconds remaining. Waterloo's Chris Ray of Kelowna, B.C., 听and Carleton's Brad Albert, from Nepean, Ont., drew the assists.
听
The official CIS roster for the Universiade Games is expected to be announced on Friday.
听
Canada has enjoyed good success in men's hockey at recent Universiades, including a silver-medal finish at the 2009 Games when the team was made up of Canada West skaters and a gold medal in 2007 when Canada was represented by players from the Atlantic conference.
听
GAME NOTES: There was also a 缅北强奸 connection on the Team Canada bench in assistant coach George Burnett, a 缅北强奸 grad who skated for the Redmen from 1982 to 1985. Burnett was 缅北强奸's first-ever All-Canadian, earning the honours after his freshman season when he established a school single-season points record with 21-60-81 in 38 games overall.
