Mapping the Social in Regional Integration: Rethinking Labour Regulation
The Faculty of Law and the Inter-university Research Centre on Globalization and Work (CRIMT) hosted a trilingual international seminar entitled "Mapping the Social in Regional Integration: Rethinking Labour Regulation" on September 29-30, 2006.
The activity, organized by Professor Adelle Blackett of the Faculty of Law and Professor Christian L茅vesque of HEC-Montr茅al and sponsored by Human Resources and Social Development Canada, brought together over 30 leading interdisciplinary researchers from around the world and several talented local graduate students.
By bringing together experts in the field, including those who study areas of burgeoning concern (e.g., Central Europe and EU enlargement, China, etc.), this unique forum aimed to be a landmark for future integrated research on this timely theme. The papers and comments considered how transnational labour law is constructed from below by a mix of state and non-state actors, or social regionalism.
