MONTREAL – Anneth Him-Lazarenko of Ste. Dorothée, Que., and Eli
Sheiner of Nepean, Ont., are the Ã山ǿ¼é athletes of the
week for the period ending Feb. 1.
Him-Lazarenko, a 5-foot-10 freshman forward with the Martlets
basketball team, had 42 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, one
blocked shot and a pair of steals as Ã山ǿ¼é swept a key two-game
series with UQAM last week. The 21-year-old education major shot a
stellar 60 per cent from the field (15/25), plus 60 per cent from
three-point range (3/5) and 81.8 from the foul-line (9/11).
Him-Lazarenko, who leads the QUBL scoring race with a 14.8
points-per-game average and is the top-scoring rookie in the
nation, is a product of Vanier College.
Sheiner, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound freshman on the men’s alpine ski
team, won gold and bronze medals in his two slaloms races at Centre
de ski Le Relais near Lac Beauport over the weekend. The
18-year-old arts major finished first of 44 entries in Saturday’s
competition and was third on Sunday. Sheiner enrolled at Ã山ǿ¼é
