Harold 脡pineuse speaks on the French justice system

On March 29, Harold 脡pineuse, charg茅 de mission at the , gave a presentation entitled "Justice dans les banlieues : le mod猫le fran莽ais est-il en crise?"
The presentation explored the genesis and evolution of the riots that shook France in the autumn of 2005, and the strong measures taken by the State in response.
In his wide-ranging remarks, Mr. 脡pineuse tied that crisis to the more recent unrest in Paris in March 2006 regarding proposed new employment legislation, to the evolution of the European Union and to the structure of the French judicial system.
Mr. 脡pineuse was hosted by Madam Justice Georgina Jackson of the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, who is a visiting judge at the Faculty.
