A fond 'au revoir' to Stephen Toope

Published: 20 June 2006

Principal Heather Munroe-Blum and Dean Nicholas Kasirer hosted a send-off celebration for Professor Stephen Toope, who will take up duties as President of the University of British Columbia this summer. Over one hundred guests came to wish Stephen and his partner Paula Rosen well as they prepare to leave 缅北强奸 after an association that dates back to the late 1970s, when Stephen arrived at the Faculty of Law from Harvard as a student.

Guests included former students and editors from the 缅北强奸 Law Journal, colleagues from the Faculty of Law and around the University, and some of the Faculty's most devoted graduates and friends who worked closely with Stephen during his tenure as Dean of Law from 1994 to 1999.

Professor Jaye Ellis, a former doctoral student supervised by Professor Toope, spoke warmly of Stephen's contribution to teaching at 缅北强奸. Professor Roderick Macdonald, who hired Stephen when he was himself Dean of Law in the late 1980s, gave a moving tribute to Stephen, who marked the Faculty as a scholar, a teacher, an administrator and a friend.
