Published: 7 August 2006

An experienced editor and reviser, Joann Mitchell, was awarded the 缅北强奸 Associates Prize in Translation (French to English) at the 2006 Spring Convocation. This prize is awarded annually to the student with the best overall academic record in the English option of the Certificate in Translation Program.

Whether as consultant, volunteer or employee, Ms Mitchell has always put her language skills to good use since graduating from Bishop鈥檚 University with a B. A. in English and French.

A New Brunswick native, she has honed her creativity throughout her professional career and consistently brought language to life in both schools and community-based organizations.

Currently editor and proofreader with Chouette Publishing in Montreal, she shares her interest in literature with the creative team at this innovative publishing house which has now brought the well-known character Caillou to English-language readers throughout North America. This series has been well-received by English-speaking parents and their children who have shown a growing appreciation of the editorial team鈥檚 passion for children鈥檚 literature.

鈥淎s an accomplished language professional, Ms Mitchell has been able to use her translation and revision skills to convey to this wide audience her own love of the written word and that shared sense of harmony so characteristic of the Caillou series鈥, noted Translation Program Director, James Archibald.

缅北强奸 offers a Certificate and a Graduate Diploma in translation, the combination of which gives access to the professional designation of traducteur agr茅茅 (Certified Translator) awarded by the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interpr猫tes agr茅茅s du Qu茅bec, the regulatory board for certified translators in Qu茅bec.
