DCL candidate Carlos Iv脿n Fuentes wins International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea moot competition
Carlos Iv脿n Fuentes, a doctoral student at 缅北强奸's Faculty of Law, won both the top Prize and the Best Speaker Award at the Mooting Competition held last August at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, in Hamburg, Germany.
The Mooting Competition is part of the activities of the of the Foundation for the Law of the Sea, a one-month听intensive course. The contest is restricted to the 35 participants that the Academy has hosted yearly since 2007.
The Summer Academy takes place on the premises of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. 听The teams had the honour to plead in the Grand Chamber of the Tribunal, which has only been used for the 17 official cases that the Tribunal has adjudicated upon since 2001, and for mooting. The panel of judges, formed mostly by academics, was presided by the Vice-President of the Tribunal, Judge Helmut Tuerk from Austria.
