MONTREAL - Marc-Andre Daneau, a third-year forward from Daveluyville, Que., tallied twice as No.2-ranked 缅北强奸 sheared the Ryerson Rams 5-1 in OUA men's university hockey at McConnell Arena, Thursday.

It marked the 11th consecutive victory to start the season for the Redmen, breaking the school record of 10 straight wins in regular-season play set in 1939-40. Including non-conference play, the Redmen are 16-0 overall and need one more victory to tie the club mark of 17 wins in a row, set during the 1936-37 campaign.

Freshman Benoit Levesque of Vaudreuil, Que., gave the Redmen a 1-0 lead at 10:12 of the first but Ryerson defenceman Troy Murray tied the game seven minutes later when his shot from the blueline eluded rookie netminder Antoine Tardif.

Senior Simon Marcotte-L茅gar茅 of Longueuil, Que., re-established the lead for 缅北强奸 at 2:36 of the middle stanza with what proved to be the game-winner.

Daneau, who dazzled the crowd with his speed and was a one-man show throughout the game, then went to work. The six-foot-1, 195-pound arts junior scored back-to-back markers at 18:36 of the second and 54 seconds of the third, to make it 4-1. Patrick Belzile, a sophomore from St. Eloi, Que., rounded out the scoring just 51 seconds later.

"It was great to see Daneau get rewarded with a couple of goals," said head coach Kelly Nobes. "He brings a great work ethic to the rink and always provides us with a relentless effort, especially on the penalty-kill unit. For him to provide some offence and be a key to victory was a bonus."

Maxime Langelier-Parent, a third-year forward from Lery, Que., was credited with three assists in the game. The Redmen had a 40-16 edge in shots as Tardif registered the win, improving his record to 4-0. Ryerson's Louie George made 35 saves in a losing cause and dropped to 1-3.

缅北强奸 improved their lifetime record against the Rams to 36-6-1. The Redmen (11-0) and Rams (4-8) will hook up again for a rematch on Friday (7 p.m.) at 缅北强奸's Macdonald campus arena in Ste. Anne de Bellevue as McConnell Arena is unavailable due to a girls hockey tournament. 缅北强奸 is playing Ryerson back-to-back in Montreal this season because the two teams agreed to played consecutive games with each other in Toronto last season.

REDMEN RAP: 缅北强奸 continues to lead the nation in scoring with 69 markers in 11 contests for an average of 6.27 goals per game... They are on pace to score 175 goals, which would eclipse the team record of 173 established in 1988-89 when they played a 26-game season and posted a 19-4-3 record... The Redmen are without the services of sniper Francis Verreault-Paul this week. The third-year psychology major, who leads the nation in both goals and points with an 18-7-25 record in 10 games, has been given a leave of absence to attend the funeral of a family member. He left on Monday and drove home to Mashteuiatsh, a community on the western shore of Lac St. Jean, located about 450 kilometres northeast of Montreal... Verreault-Paul was replaced on the team's top line by senior left-winger Guillaume Doucet, who hooked up with junior centre Alex Picard-Hooper and junior right-winger Andrew Wright... Defenceman Ben Morse returned to the lineup after missing both games last week with a case of stomach flu that had him spend a night in the hospital.
