OTTAWA (CIS) - The 缅北强奸 women's hockey team, one of many defending CIS champions holding on to their No. 1 positions this week, is currently riding a 73-game winning streak.

The two-time defending national champion 缅北强奸 Martlets defeated Ottawa (4-8-1) 4-2 on Sunday to improve to 13-0 in QSSF play and extend their record streak to 73 straight wins against CIS opponents, dating back to December of 2007. The Martlets, who have led all 12 coaches' polls this season, put their streak on the line on Friday night when they host No. 10 Montreal (10-3-1).
听
Also of note in CIS women's hockey, Saskatchewan (10-3-3) moves up two spots to No. 8 following a two-game sweep of Manitoba (12-4), which drops a pair to No. 6.

The reigning University Cup champion UNB Varsity Reds improved to 19-0 in conference play with a pair of key road wins over Top-10 opponents including a 6-1 domination No. 9 Saint Mary's (10-5-4) and a 2-1 win over No. 4 Acadia (13-4-1). The V-Reds, who have topped all 10 media polls thus far this season, face the University of Maine in non-conference action on Tuesday evening in Orono, ME, before resuming AUS play at Moncton (4-13-1) on Friday and at St. Thomas (6-10-2) on Saturday.

Simon Fraser's women's basketball team, one of many defending CIS champions holding on to their No. 1 positions this week, is currently riding a 49-game winning streak. The reigning national champion Clan lead the Top 10 for the seventh time in as many coaches' polls this season following an 80-45 domination of Trinity Western (2-9) that improved their conference record to a Canada West-leading 11-0. Simon Fraser, which has racked up 49 straight wins since dropping its 2008-09 opener to Victoria, hosts Winnipeg (7-6) and Manitoba (5-8) this weekend.
听
Also of note this week in CIS women's basketball, the defending OUA champion Windsor Lancers (11-1) drop from No. 2 to No. 3 behind Regina (10-2) after a 66-50 upset loss to McMaster (8-4) on Saturday.

Last year's CIS finalists, the UBC Thunderbirds are 11-0 in conference play following a two-game sweep of Fraser Valley (6-6), 97-63 and 91-78. The T-Birds, who top the national rankings for a third straight week, hit the road this weekend for duels against Lethbridge (6-7) and No. 5 Calgary (10-3).

The two-time reigning CIS champion UBC Thunderbirds improved to 13-0 in conference play last weekend with a two-game sweep of No. 9 Brandon (8-4), 3-2 and 3-0. The T-Birds, who lead the national rankings for the ninth time in as many polls in 2009-2010, go for a third straight sweep of a Top-10 rival this weekend when they host No. 8 Calgary (6-6) Friday and Saturday.

The 2008-09 national finalist Laval Rouge et Or, who lead the Top 10 for the third consecutive week, improved to 11-0 in QSSF play thanks to a pair of straight-set wins over 缅北强奸 (1-10) and Montreal (5-6). The Rouge et Or will try to keep their perfect season alive against a trio of AUS teams this weekend as they are set to face UNB (5-3), Memorial (1-9) and No. 3 Dalhousie (9-1) in interlock action.

Saskatchewan tops both women's and men's computer-generated rankings this week. A week after the Huskies took over from defending CIS champion Windsor atop the women's rankings, the Saskatchewan men move up four spots to No. 1 to complete the double-double.

The reigning CIS champion Calgary women and Simon Fraser men remain atop the second national rankings of the season. The first rankings were published back on November 24.
