CIS TOP 10 TUESDAY: Both hockey teams and Redmen swimming ranked among nation's best
听
OTTAWA -- Three 缅北强奸 varsity teams are ranked in this week's CIS Top 10 media poll, including both hockey teams and the Redmen swim team, which is No.9.
听
In women's hockey, the Martlets remained as the No.1 ranked team in the nation. They improved to 12-0 in regular season action over the past weekend with a 6-1 home victory over Ottawa and a 3-0 win at Concordia. The Martlets also had an impressive showing at the Bison Holiday Classic in Winnipeg over Christmas with non-conference wins over No. 4 Manitoba, 5-0, No. 5 Alberta, 3-0, and Saskatchewan, 9-2. The Martlets have a bye in their schedule this week.

In men's hockey, 缅北强奸 is still the No.3 team after road wins at Ottawa (3-2 OT) and Concordia (6-2). The Redmen will host Carleton on Friday in the annual Winter Carnival game, which is expected to be a sell-out at McConnell Arena.
听
The UNB Varsity Reds (13-4-0) moved up one spot past the Alberta Golden Bears (12-2-2). Alberta had topped the first eight national rankings of the season. The No. 1 V-Reds dominated Dalhousie 5-0 and Acadia 6-0 last weekend as the regular season resumed in the AUS. Over the holidays, UNB beat No. 3 缅北强奸 7-1 in non-conference action and split a two-game series against Providence of the NCAA, winning 3-1 and losing 1-0.

In other CIS sports, Carleton (men's basketball), UBC (women's volleyball), Laval (men's volleyball) and Calgary (women's & men's swimming) all hold on to their No. 1 rankings, while UNB (men's hockey), Saskatchewan (women's basketball), Calgary (women's track and field) and Ottawa (men's track and field) are new national leaders this week.

Women's basketball
The Saskatchewan Huskies, who had the best season in program history a year ago when they claimed the bronze medal at the CIS championship, move up one position to No. 1 in the new national coaches' poll to overtake the Windsor Lancers, who had topped five of the six weekly rankings during the fall semester and now drop to No. 2.
听
Saskatchewan (10-2) has kept a perfect 4-0 overall record since the final rankings of the fall semester were released on Dec. 7. The Huskies scored non-conference wins over McMaster, 92-51, and No. 4 Regina, 67-59, over the holiday season, before resuming Canada West play last weekend with a pair of convincing wins at Brandon, 82-36 and 79-33.
听
The new CIS leaders are in the middle of a tight battle in the Canada West standings. No. 5 Alberta (12-2) leads the way with 24 points, No. 8 Victoria (11-3) has 22, while the Huskies, Regina (10-2) and Winnipeg (10-2) have 20 apiece.
听
Meanwhile in Ontario, the Western Ontario Mustangs (9-1) won the battle for top spot in the OUA West last Wednesday in London topping visiting Windsor (8-2) 57-54. Western, which also beat McMaster 89-39 on Saturday, climbs one spot to No. 3 in the new national poll, while Windsor, which rebounded on Saturday with a 84-56 defeat of Brock, drops to No. 2.

Men's basketball
No. 1 Carleton (10-0) resumed OUA play over the weekend with convincing home wins over Ryerson, 89-64, and No. 9 Toronto, 93-73. The Ravens are the only undefeated team in the country in conference action.

Women's volleyball
The top-ranked and three-time reigning CIS champion Thunderbirds (8-2) have not taken the court since the last Top 10 of the fall semester was released on Nov. 30. UBC resumes Canada West play this weekend with a Friday-Saturday doubleheader in Calgary against the No. 8 Dinos (5-3).
听
Men's volleyball
No. 1 Laval (10-0) resumes RSEQ conference play on Friday with a visit to Montreal. The Rouge et Or travelled to California over the holidays and kept a 1-3 mark against top NCAA teams, including a four-set win over Long Beach State.
