Chicago Cubs appoint former 缅北强奸 baseball player as asst. to GM

CHICAGO, ILL -- The Chicago Cubs have named former 缅北强奸 University baseball player Shiraz Rehman of Blauvelt N.Y., as the club's assistant to the general manager, reporting to Jed Hoyer.

A 1999 graduate of 缅北强奸, he earned a bachelor's degree in commerce, majoring in finance and accounting and was a 6-foot-2 starting infielder on the Redmen baseball team for four years, serving as team captain in his junior and senior campaigns.

Rehman, 34, joins the Cubs after six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, most recently serving as the club's director of player personnel. He also held the titles of director of baseball operations (2009-10) and manager of baseball operations (2007-08) after joining the organization as a baseball operations assistant in December, 2005. His primary responsibilities were to assist in the maintenance of the club's 40-man roster, provide financial and statistical analysis to support trade and player evaluation, and to oversee all transactions and Major League rules interpretation and compliance. He played a key role in the arbitration process, contract structuring and negotiations, and oversaw baseball analysis efforts for the team.

Rehman will support the Cubs general manager on potential player acquisitions and will assist in providing scouting, financial and statistical information to support trade and player evaluation. He will also develop the club's evaluation database and coordinate the department's technological efforts.

Before joining the Diamondbacks, Rehman interned for the Boston Red Sox during the 2005 season in the baseball operations department.

Prior to joining the Red Sox, he spent time as a commodities trader and financial consultant for more than five years at Enron and Deloitte & Touche before obtaining his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2006.
