Capolungo and Bahen named team MVPs at annual soccer awards gala

MONTREAL - Yohann Capolungo, a third-year midfielder from France, and Julia Bahen, a sophomore defender from Vancouver, B.C., were announced 听as the most valuable players 听of the 缅北强奸 men's and women's soccer teams, respectively, during the Friends of 缅北强奸 Soccer awards gala held at Molson Brewery, Friday.

Other awards handed out by Martlets head coach Marc Mounicot went to freshman midfielder Hannah Kirby of Kanata, Ont., who was named as the most dedicated player and Melanie Desaulniers-Rioux, a rookie defender from Lac Beauport, Que., who was named most improved player.

Special recognition awards, made by Redmen head coach David Simon, went to graduating midfielders Sami Obaid, a medical school senior from Laval, Que., and Olivier Babineau , a native of Moncton, N.B., who transferred to 缅北强奸 last fall to complete 听graduate work in kinesiology and physical education.

On the women's side, midfielder Hannah Simmons, an environmental science senior from Vancouver, was the only Martlets player expected to graduate.

Also honoured was Martlets assistant coach Catherine Lumsden, a former 缅北强奸 player who is leaving the teams after seven years of service, including four as a player.
