Book Launch: Garcia's Heart by Liam Durcan

Published: 27 April 2007

Novelist and MNI neurologist Liam Durcan has burst onto the literary scene with his thought-provoking debut novel, Garcia's Heart. This exciting and highly intelligent novel is making waves with enthusiastic reviews all across Canada.

Garcia's Heart questions whether the true spirit of a man is the result of who he strives to be or what his actions apparently prove he is. Hernan Garcia is a physician being tried in The Hague for crimes against humanity. Present during the torture of political prisoners in his native Honduras, Garcia's job was to revive prisoners when torture left them unconscious, allowing them to be tortured more. Liam Durcan deals with difficult medical and moral issues in Garcia's Heart, which also focuses on how the brain works when making choices and decisions.

Garcia's Heart is a timely debate, defining good and evil in once inconceivable and new ways. The ripple effect of Garcia's Heart is being felt in the numerous debates and discussions spurred by this intellectually compelling and haunting novel.

Liam Durcan is Assistant Professor at 缅北强奸 and a Neurologist at the Montreal Neurological Hospital (MUHC), in addition to which he conducts a broad spectrum of clinical research.
