BLACKBERRY - CIS TOP 10 TUESDAY (#14): 缅北强奸 hockey teams ranked 1-2 in nation

Published: 30 November 2010

OTTAWA (CIS) - There are no changes at the top this week in Canadian Interuniversity Sport basketball, hockey and volleyball national rankings.

In women's hockey, the No. 1 缅北强奸 Martlets (9-0) also end the fall semester with a perfect conference record, but not without surviving a scare for the second week in a row. Following a 4-0 shutout of Montreal (5-4-2) on Friday, last year's national finalists needed a pair of shootout goals by all-Canadian forward Ann-Sophie Bettez on Saturday to edge Carleton (2-5-2) by a 2-1 score.

In men's hockey, top-ranked Alberta heads into the break with an 11-2-1 Canada West mark following a weekend split with No. 8 Manitoba (7-3-4). The 2009-10 CIS silver medalist Golden Bears lost the series opener 4-2 last Friday but rebounded with a 3-2 victory on Saturday.

In women's basketball, No. 1 Windsor easily improved to 7-1 in OUA action over the past weekend with road wins over Queen's (1-7), 77-58, and Royal Military College (1-7), 95-41. The 2009-10 CIS finalist Lancers have completed the fall portion of the regular season and will resume conference play in January.

In men's hoops, the top-ranked Carleton Ravens head into the December break with an unblemished 8-0 OUA record thanks to home wins over McMaster (3-5), 84-70, and Lakehead (6-2), 75-49.

In women's volleyball, three-time reigning CIS champion UBC is 8-2 in Canada West action at the break thanks to a pair of home wins over Saskatchewan (1-7). The No. 1 Thunderbirds easily took the opener in straight sets on Friday but had to come back from a 2-1 deficit on Saturday to prevail in five.

In men's volleyball, the No. 1 Laval Rouge et Or (10-0) had already wrapped up the fall portion of their RSEQ schedule a week ago.
