The human orbitofrontal cortex investigated through neuroimaging.
Anatomical studies have demonstrated that the orbitofrontal cortex is heavily connected to medial temporal areas of the brain such as the rhinal cortex and the hippocampal region, as well as limbic structures such as the amygdala and the hypothalamus. This presentation will focus on certain roles of the orbitofrontal cortex such as memory encoding, the processing of novel information and deviations from expectation that were investigated with functional neuroimaging.
