Head Librarian Daniel Boyer to receive Advocatus Emeritus distinction
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Daniel Boyer, Ad. E., Wainwright Librarian and Head of the Nahum Gelber Law Library, will receive the Advocatus Emeritus (Ad. E.) title from the Barreau du Québec in 2018.
Six alumni of the Faculty will also receive the distinction: Eric Dunberry, Ad. E., BCL’86; Christine Jutras, Ad. E., LLM’16; Claude Marseille, Ad. E., BCL’86, LLB’86; Frédérique Sabourin, Ad. E., LLM’89; Martin F. Sheehan, Ad. E., BCL’90, LLB’90; and Nathalie Vézina, Ad. E., BCL’88, LLB’88.
Mtre Daniel Boyer has dedicated himself to sharing his knowledge and understanding of legal literature within Ă山ǿĽé as well as with the legal communities in Quebec, Canada, and abroad. Holding degrees in history, law and library sciences, he participates in a wide range of professional and academic activities. In addition to his publications and conference presentations on Comparative Law, he has acted as a consultant for Law Libraries, notably in Switzerland and Vietnam.
The Advocatus Emeritus title is awarded to members of the Bar who have distinguished themselves through a remarkable career, outstanding contributions to the profession, or constructive community work.
“Daniel has made tremendous contributions to the profession through his tireless work maintaining the Nahum Gelber Law Library as an extraordinary resource for students, professors, and the legal community, as well as through contributing to our students’ education,” said Dean Robert Leckey. “As the Gelber library celebrates its 20th anniversary, I am delighted to see his work further recognized by the legal community.”
